Work Experience

Tim Bour has worked with communication technology for 19 years. Tim's experience includes 13 years at Hewlett Packard's Components Group (now Agilent Technologies) in San Jose, California. Job responsibilities at Agilent included product management in display technology, automotive electronics, bar code components and 7 years as the marketing manager for the fiber optic components business. In addition, Tim spent 3 years as the founder and CEO of Cielo Communications in Broomfield, Colorado. Cielo Communications, a leader in the development of the 850nm VCSEL and an early supplier of GBICs (gigabit interface converter, an optical transceiver) to the gigabit ethernet market. Cielo also initiated a joint project with Sandia National Laboratories aimed at developing a 1310nm VCSEL. At Cielo, Tim completed 3 rounds of venture funding totaling $47M. In 1999, Tim was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" finalist in the Rocky Mountain Region by Ernst and Young. In October, 2002, Cielo Communications was sold to OCPI (Optical Communications Products) of Chatsworth, California. From 2000 to present, Tim has has worked as the principal consultant for Bour Communications, LLC in Boulder, Colorado.
